Doug Caves

From his Central Massachusetts studio, Caves paints the emotional charge of everyday places: old houses, working landscapes, coastal weather, and still lifes caught in changing light. He works in oil and acrylic, building surfaces in layers of transparent color and opaque passages.

His paintings are interpretations rather than records. Composition, colour, texture, and memory work together to invite a slower look.

“Every painting has a voice and a personality.”
